Who are we ?

St Alvère in the Périgord :
the first truffle market
in France to have gone
on-line !

Our wines are regularly honoured in the press and in guides. If you are not yet convinced of our passion and our efforts to make the wines that we like, as you like them, too, these quotes are an external point of view that might guide you.

However, our greatest reward is the expression of our customers themselves! Here are some selected passages:

"We baught some very nice boxes of wine... we have drunk them all ;-(( . Hope to see you again in November... (T.E-D)

"I bought a case of Côtes de Bergerac Rouge 2002 ... in Sarlat, and I just drank the last bottle. It was delicious. ... / ... Again, congratulations for the quality of your product." (F.E. 12/02/11)

"Thank you for your regular "review", not only well written but full of thoughtfulness, emotion and life. We still enjoy your wine so much..." (GH on 16/06/10).

"Your Bergerac rosé is a real delight of red fruits, of lightness and coolness, pleasant and balanced." (F.B., May 21, 2010)

"We met last summer at Cathy and Vincent’s place in Lion in the Beauce, during a day of very pleasant tasting. And all of my friends fell in love with your wine ..." (F.C., May 5, 2010)

"I just wanted to thank you for the quality of your wines (Bergerac, but also older Monbazillac vintages that delight me), and tell you that I really like the very human
content of the letters you send us. Continue in this tone!" (F.B., April 26, 2010)

“I have been a connoisseur of your wines for years, and an admirer of your work, whose fine course I follow on your web site, of course, but especially through the voice of my aunt.
I would like you to know that your rosé delights our summers, your dry white is a treat that makes the cartons disappear at maddening speeds, with them, ‘moderation’ is a dirty word. Your Brumaire and your Monbazillac vintages end all our family meals and the Robertie Haut is a real wonder (but enjoy it in moderation because it is a wine for a musketeer, muscular, handsome, loud and not afraid of fighting).
It should accompany you at every opportunity. Robertie has become like a member of the family.” (D.M. le 3/02/2010)

"Very nice wine, with soft tannins, silky, very cool, which surprised me for the year. Lovely amplitude in the mouth, good length. This evening, it went perfectly with a duck leg confit. (Robertie Haute 2003) (J.P. 24/01/10)

“I bought ‘La Robertie Haute 2003’ a few years ago, and it was so good that I want to recommend it..." (S.P. 04/01/10)

Your ros is just wonderful, your white is splendid and the red is perfect. Can we come see you to express our gratitude and our admiration for your products? Just to touch your hand and congratulate you, face to face. Again congratulations and thank you for your work.  (S-S.B. le 01/01/10)

"We extended the tasting time because we opened a bottle of Vendanges de Brumaire 2002 ... Excellent product, always admirable, as an aperitif, with foie gras and French bread ..." Please continue to make wines so unique and exceptional. (D.B. 01/12/09)

“We had friends over for a nice prime rib ... I opened a bottle of the Robert E 2005! Marvellous!” (T.C. 23/11/09)

“You are so enthusiastic and passionate when discussing your harvest, sorry, ‘your children’ that it makes us want to participate, if it is alright with you, as volunteers, of course.” (M. 04/11/09)

“I particularly like their high-end Monbazillac vintage, ‘Vendanges de Brumaire', whose colour is gold with a nose of candied fruits and citrus. The mouth is well balanced, with fat, length and a good fruity aftertaste. A lovely bottle, approximately 50 cl, for the price of 15 euros, is a good value for the money in my opinion.” (A.D. 02/11/09)

“Today I opened a Monbazillac vintage. ‘Vendanges de Brumaire 2003... Deep golden colour, tending toward amber.
The nose is full, a real mix of candied fruit but with a nice freshness.
The mouth is sublime. Smooth initially, the sugars are extremely well integrated and become refined progressively as the freshness increases (restrained to just the right level, as the 2003 requires), with superb aromas of honey, dried fruit, fig, apricot, wax and an interminable finish of toast, accompanied by just enough freshness that stays in the middle of the tongue and enlivens the whole. It was tasted with a creamy ‘bleu des causses’, and I am really proud of my harmony, which was almost perfect.” (T.L. 01/11/09)

"We stayed at the Chartreuse de Bignac and we didn’t have the time to go see you. Mrs. Viargues made us a present of a bottle of Robertie Haute 2005. We really loved your wine." (J.F. 28/09/09)

“Your wine has been unanimously appreciated; the Monbazillac was truly sublime and the very fruity Dry Bergerac 2008 went perfectly with the fish ..." "The party could not have been more perfect.” (I.P. 15/07/2009)

“Following a tasting at the Vieux Logis in 2008, I brought home 12 bottles of your Côtes de Bergerac 2005. After a year in my cellar, it is excellent and I would like to have the same!" (G.DE.S. 10/07/2009)

“Thank you for your visit last Friday, thank you for making us discover, along with your wine, your enthusiasm and infectious energy!" (E.B. 16/06/2009)

“Happy New Year and good health to all and to the vine stock... Recently I open the first bottle of E from 2003 and I am delighted with this purchase. We, who are rather non-believers, thought, in this particular instance, to have tasted a bit heaven.” (P.L. 02/01/2009)

Starting last year, Brigitte Soulier began converting to organic and biodynamic agriculture. Yet even before this wise decision, her rosé wines had something more: more delicate grapes, more present acidity and dazzling fruit resulting from a blend of the southwest’s three leading grape varieties: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. The 2009 plays on hints of red fruit dominated by fresh raspberries, and a long finish that leaves hope for a pleasant accompaniment with lamb chops.

We are in the new Bettane and Desseauve guide and in the Revue du Vin de France guide since 2005.

“The owner of La Robertie since 1999, Brigitte Soulier has made a model career and, from now on, is running the estate alone.
The carefully made wines in the three colours are ripe, expressive and concentrated, delicate, unpretentious. Carried out with some difficulty, the organic conversion was finally completed in 2011.”

We have been in the Hachette Wine Guide since 2002.

“Established in 1999, Brigitte and Jean Philippe Soulier completely restructured their 14-hectare vineyard. Brigitte Soulier has been at the head of the estate since 2006. Her husband, who supports her in her passion, returned to his old trade.”

2012 Hachette Guide:
"Its 2010 Bergerac Dry, aged in oak barrels××, is a bright, light yellow, with a rather floral nose typical of Sauvignon, and a touch of citrus. The attack shows fat and a nice flexibility. Fresh fruit is revealed mid-mouth and continues in a finish of great length, with slightly buttery nuances. Two stars are also given to the 2009 vintage, vinified in oak barrels. Its full mouth with a pleasant vivacity reveals a woodiness that is still dominant: a wine with a good future."

2011 Hachette Guide:
If it was born in a difficult vintage, the 2007 Robertie Haute has made the best of the situation and charmed the jury thanks to a perfectly controlled 18-month aging in casks. The nose reveals intense aromas of black fruit (cassis), that support the fine woody notes. Both full and supple, the mouth is supported by ripe tannins that are pleasantly harmonious. If the harmony of this wine is already complete, you can also enjoy it in two or three years.

2009 Hachette Guide:
They sign this vintage "E" - E, as in Exception, Exacting, Excellence as indicated on the back label. The goal is achieved.
Clothed in a dark red colour with deep purple highlights, this 2005 presents an elegant nose of plum, stewed fruit and blueberry. Fruit, substance, balance, length: the mouth continues to charm us. The woodiness is discreet and shows perfectly controlled aging. A wine ready to drink, but one that can still age for a few years."

We are regularly in the guide "The Best Inexpensive Wines" ("Les meilleurs vins à petits prix") published by the RVF.

Côtes de Bergerac 2007: 14.5 in the “The Best Wines at Reasonable Prices 2010” (RVF)

This vintage is expressed with a dignified, sincere fruit. The attack on the stone fruit is fresh and lively. What follows is more marked by its aging than by its fruit. We love these wines with an assertive personality.

Côtes de Bergerac 2006: 15/20 in "The Best Wines at Reasonable Prices 2010” (RVF)

Here, the play of the matter is suppleness rather than strength ...

Côtes de Bergerac 2004 : 14.5/20
Nice tannic and pretty development for this sweet and seductive 2004. Ideal to be drunk in the year.
