St Alvère in the Périgord :
the first truffle market
in France to have gone
on-line !

Towards Bordeaux where the asteriated chalk soil of the communes of Gours, Puynormand and Franc is covered with a sticky « Agen » or « Fronsac » layer, the predominant grape variety is Merlot, as is the case in most of the Libourne area.

Controlled yields produce top
quality grapes which are included in the best vintages of the UNIVITAS wines, FONT DESTIAC and MARQUIS D’ABEYLIE.

The Vineyards

Right from the beginning the ‘Deux Vignobles’ Wine Co-operative advised its members on the on the best grape varieties for the local terroir - or soil and climate.

So, over the years, the chalky-clay soils of
Château MONDESIR and WESTPHALIE planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc have imbued our range of red wines with the traditional characteristics of the region.
