The
village social committee - the foyer rural laïque
- an association created in 1947 under the 1901 association
law, is essentially an amateur dramatics club (Les Coulisses
du Rocher ).
The adult company comprises 25 -30 members.
Performances (adult) are put on the Saturday evening before
Palm Sunday. On the afternoon of Palm Sunday itself, the
schoolchildren of Montclar present a show which is followed
once again by the adult company.
The amateur dramatics tradition has been handed down from
generation to generation and
the company’s 50th birthday in
1997 was a moving and
memorable occasion where the old and young exchanged
theatrical experiences and an exhibition of photos and
costumes etc. told of how it once was.
Let’s hope that the generations to come will be blessed with
similar opportunities and be around to celebrate the group’s
100th birthday.
