Agriculture
Lalinde is part of a traditionally polycultural region (cereals,
dairy products) where tobacco predominates in the alluvial soils
of the valley.
Artisans
The majority of artisans in the Lindois region work for small
family businesses.
The building industry is particularly well represented.
Shops
Local shops do especially brisk trade on the two weekly market
days :
• Thursday morning : a large number of market traders.
• Saturday morning : a farm market with local producers.
The Lindois population enjoy a fine choice from Lalinde’s wide
range of shops.
Industry
The largest local industry, which forms part of the Ahlstrom
Paper Group and employs 160 people, is the Sibille paper mill at
Rottersac. (The mill produces note paper, food wrappers etc.)
Polyrey, part of the International Paper group, employs 501
people in a laminated wood and plastics factory in the
neighbouring commune of Baneuil.
Professions
Lalinde has dentists, doctors, vets, a land surveyor...
Service Sector
Lalinde’s sound economic situation has given rise to flourishing
cleaning and garden landscape and maintenance businesses.
Tourist Industry
The tourist industry is booming thanks to Lalinde’s prime
location.
• Situated on the Bergerac-Sarlat road, at the entrance to the
‘Périgord Noir’, Lalinde is a busy thoroughfare whose hotels and
restaurants are always busy.
• ‘Green’, country tourism is in full expansion thanks to the
Dordogne River, the beautiful, surrouding countryside and the
easy mix of farms and rural heritage (Gallo-Roman remains etc.).
