Fraisse, whose
name comes from the Latin «fraxinum» meaning ash, or ‘frêne’
in French, is situated 10km from La Force, on the edge of the
Landais forest.
The commune is crossed by the D13 and D20 departmental roads. The parish church
was rebuilt in the 19th century in a Neo-Romanesque style.
The
village, delicately
nestled in the valley of the gentle little river, the Lidoire
- which has its source in the neighbouring commune of Bosset -
has retained a charmingly bucolic atmosphere. The «Pin de Forgeron»
has a superb viewpoint from which one can admire the southern
hillsides of the Dordogne.
