Bouniagues comes from the Latin “Bonne Aquoe” (Bonne Eaux) (Good Water).
Many springs still exist there.
In the past, tiles and bricks were made in this small village.

The commune is located on the national highway RN21 south of Bergerac, in the canton of Issigeac.
It has 509 people and an area of 862 hectares.
