The Old
Town :
The old quarters are full
of narrow lanes lined with half-timbered houses dating from
the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries.
The Port :
The port and the
quayside testify to the importance of the river’s past when
the gabares moored here to unload wood brought down from the
Limousin and to load up with barrels to take to Bordeaux.
In the summer gabare trips (in a reconstruction of the typical
boats) down the Dordogne set off from Bergerac.
