A warm, friendly
and beautiful village which boasts a tower,
old houses and a
Romanesque church
and chapel. St Nicholas’ Church is listed as
an Historical Monument and is a veritable
fortress which served as a refuge and
defence in times of trouble.
St Hilaire’s
Chapel, surrounded by its graveyard, is
twelfth-century and has been renovated by
the inhabitants of Trémolat who installed
stained glass windows by Paul Becker.
From the bend in
the river, a natural viewpoint, the panoramic
view is breathtaking; it is a listed beauty
spot, described by André Maurois as one of the
wonders of the world.
Trémolat has many
leisure and sporting activities to offer:
rambling and mountain-biking, canoeing,
water-skiing, swimming and fishing, archery
and miniature golf etc. Not to mention the
gourmet delights of local strawberries,
mushrooms, walnuts, chestnuts, foie gras, and
wine. |
