The museum, and
the town hall, are housed in a building
which dates from the Second Empire. The
museum was created in 1939 by Mme Gardeau
and has a wide range of exhibits dating from
as far back as the Stone Age (a 20cm,
Neolithic axe from Carsac) and the
Gallo-Roman period (tile and pottery from
the Lupius Villa and an oil lamp from
Puy-Chalus).
The collections
include porcelain, portraits of Montaigne’s
contemporaries and a wide variety of daily
utensils. |
