Origins
The abbey dates from the eighth century: in
804 it was given to St Martial de Limoges
but was pillaged in 860 by the Normans and
was rebuilt several times only to be
destroyed again. In 1703 it was attached to
Périgueux Seminary.
What
to See
The church has a rectangular,
twelfth-century chancel whose rib vaulting
dates from the fourteenth century. The nave
was built in the fifteenth and the rib
vaulting which covers it was reconstructed
in brick in the nineteenth century. The
porch bell tower, however, has not been
touched since it was built in the twelfth
century.
