Origins
Built in the mid-sixteenth century, the
chateau is situated in the heart of the
prestigious Monbazillac vineyards.
What
to See
Four large, round towers enclose the main
building, and defensive machicolations and
battlements contrast with the more elegant
Renaissance elements of the chateau.
The chateau apartments house a
museum
of vine and wine, of Périgourdin furniture,
of the history of Protestantism and an
exhibition of Périgord’s thousand and one
castles. The old winery has been transformed
into a restaurant and the famous Monbazillac
wine can be tasted at the Visitor’s Centr |
