Maxange Caves which boast a quite exceptional level and quantity of concretion are situated in the Dordogne at Le Buisson de Cadouin, several kilometres from Sarlat and Les Eyzies, at «Mestreguiral»,.

At Maxange as well as the classic forms of stalactite and stalagmite there are also truly astonishing walls of eccentric crystallization which have developed on the cave ceilings and walls, seeming to defy all laws of gravity.
The density and quality of this type of concretion along the walls, and particularly ceilings, of the cave, make it quite rare.
