Note from the Director
With a lively, inventive company, the Gargouille Theatre
presents :
With
its solidly united, strong and inventive cast, the Gargouille
Theatre presents Molière’s play in a festive, convivial ambience
with lots of interaction with the audience.
The performance takes place in a whirl of movement on Marie
Laurence Lavaud’s superb stage set. Gérard Guillemin combines a
childlike aura with a magical ambience and a large dose of farce
in the spirit of the Commedia dell’Arte to give back a real
sense of theatre to the play. It is an exercise in style which
will delight everyone, young and old.

This show was first mounted in May 2002 and has already
successfully toured around a number of schools and been seen by
a wide public.
Why Molière? To find a festive, convivial touch, close to the public, to
share popular theatre in the noble sense of the word, to return
to the theatre’s source in order to better reflect all the
creative freshness as well as the pleasure of words and a good
text that calls society’s events into question.
