Florence Soulet : Decorative Tapestry

Background
For fifteen years I worked in sales in Bergerac after which I sold my business and went into catering for a while. Then in 2011 I met my partner who is a painter and who helped me discover my creativity and passion for tapestry, fabrics and lighting creations. This influenced me to obtain a CAP (Certificate of Professional Aptitude) in upholstery and soft furnishings. In January 2013 I trained in the museum workshops of the Louvre in Paris. When it comes to lampshades I'm self-taught.

Activity and Philosophy
I refurbish upholstered furniture respecting traditional methods. Using fabrics, lace, braid, cords, feathers and buttons I create unique articles with the 1920's as a major source of inspiration. I try and give significance to my lampshades using colour and form so that the light reveals the beauty of the materials employed. My creativity knows no limits and I allow myself to be guided by instinct giving each creation its own personality.
Everything I create is unique because I know it's destined for one particular person.....
