Claudine Menou, Painter

Background
Born in 1943 in Asnières, Claudine Menou began painting at the age of fifteen.
She attended the School of Fine Art in Casablanca and learned about the use of colour, she then studied in Toulon to learn the art of fresco. In Caen she was trained in sculpting wood and finally in the School of Decorative Arts in Avignon she mastered the art of tromp l'oeil.
She has also studied the art of sacred iconography in the Studio St. Jean Damascène.

Activity
Since the 1980's Claudine Menou has participated in many exhibitions in France and abroad and obtained prestigious prizes. Her paintings are referenced in the Akoun* and sell well at auction. (*Directory of artists)
She has also illustrated books and card games and painted many frescoes and trompe l'oeil works for private individuals and corporate customers.
She continues to exercise her many talents and also teaches in her studio in Lamonzie St. Martin.

Philosophy

It is as an oil painter that Claudine Menou has made her mark as an artist, always producing figurative works playing with light and shade to create an unusual atmosphere, her technique embracing the depth of her paintings.
After a voyage to Brazil she is now giving her time to abstract painting (in acrylic on wood and canvas) and leads us on an extraordinary adventure into the " non-conscious " of light, detachment and love of Art.
