Aude Leblond, glass blower and stained glass artist

Background
While studying Art History in 2000 I discovered the trade of glass-blowing and went on to do an apprenticeship at the CERFAV (the European Centre for Research and Training in Glass Work) in Lorraine. After obtaining my diploma in glass-blowing and stained-glass work, I worked in several studios mainly doing restoration work for historic monuments.
I opened a studio called Vitraux et Co. in Andernos on the Bassin d'Arcachon in 2010 and came back to work at home in Bergerac in early 2014.

Activity
As well as doing heritage restoration I also make stained-glass windows for private clients.
Using traditional techniques I also try to push stained glass into other less traditional forms in more every-day items such as a range of jewellery and decorative objects.

Philosophy
I like to be guided by my imagination, mixing materials and transforming objects. Melting bottles, bending glasses, enclosing bubbles or bits of metal; each piece is a game. Anything is possible with the centuries-old art of stained-glass.
