The fruit of a long history of intercommunal work, the Cadouin Community of Communes was created on January 1, 2002. At the confluence of the Perigords, it groups together 10 communes: Pontours, Badefols, Calès, Alles sur Dordogne, Limeuil, Le Buisson, Paleyrac, Urval, Cadouin, Bouillac. Its President is Johannès HUARD. Its Director is Estelle LACHAUD.

The eastern entry of the greater Bergerac area, it is at the confluence of the Vézère and the Dordogne rivers. The Bessède forest is its other natural wealth. This diversity allows the practice of numerous leisure activities on its territory.
A well-maintained network of PDIPR- classified trails let hikers cover the plains and hills.

Buisson de Cadouin, the area’s economic centre, was an important railway hub.
Today, it is still well-situated at the crossroad of departmental urban areas and at the centre of the South Perigord’s main tourist circuits.

A « Community of Communes » represents :
Two dates : 1992 and 1999, the creation of the « Community of Communes » and the reinforcement of the joint, ‘inter-commune’, spirit. The intention is for diverse, local communes (or, parishes) to join together administratively and socially in order to be able to establish a single, joint development policy for the area. With this aim in mind, each (hitherto independant) commune hands over control of certain spheres of activity to the « Community of Communes » who manages them accordingly.
