A Question of Culture
is an association set up within the framework of the 1901 non-profit
making associations law,
which is concerned with the social and professional integration of
people in difficult or precarious circumstances.
It is aimed at the unemployed, the disabled, ex-prisoners, single
mothers etc. The ‘tool’ at its disposal is an organic market-garden.
In conjunction
with its main goal, the association :
• Helps elderly and/or socially excluded persons or persons on the
very edges of society to re-discover a useful occupation and hobby.
• Provides support - in terms of exchange of skills, materials and
time - for small farmers isolated in their daily lives.
• Helps make children and adolescents more aware of environmental
issues. Provides a place for the younger and older generations to meet
and exchange ideas.
• Provides many families with a weekly basket of organic vegetables
(as a means of supporting the association).
• Provides social, professional and cultural support.
Employees (on short-term, state-subsidised CEC or CES contracts) count
on the support of the association for help in setting up/working on a
personal or professional project with the aim of finding long-term
employment.
The association uses organic market-gardening as a means of socially
and professionally (re)integrating its employees.
Top-quality, organic, seasonal vegetables grown in the association’s
garden are delivered to the association’s members every Thursday along
with the garden’s newsletter, « Feuille de Choux » (‘The Cabbage Leaf’).
