The Bergerac Collectors’ Association was founded in 1988 and today has 180 members approximately from all corners of the Bergerac area.

The aims of the association are :

• To help members build their own collections.
• To participate in the creation of an inventory of objects and documents relevant to the town and region’s past.

The association meets :

• At Bergerac, on the second Friday of the month at 20h30 at the ‘Maison des Syndicats’.
• At Périgueux, on the third Friday of the month at the ‘Maison des Associations’ (Room D).
At each meeting a slide show and general commentary of a member’s collection is shown well as the usual general information and exchanges.

The association’s activities :

• Collectors’ Day takes place every year on the third Sunday of March and is one of the largest specialist fairs in France. The pillars of the event are numismatics and old postcards. A hundred or so stalls from all over France offer the 3000 visitors a vast array of objects (books, stamps, perfumes, badges etc.)
Every year a different exhibition is staged.

• The Old & Rare Books Fair is held every year on 15 August and is presented by more than twenty professional booksellers.

• A monthly news-letter dealing with a wide range of topics is distributed to all members.

• The association produces a free book developing the theme of the Collectors’ Day exhibition.

• The association produces books and repertories of postcards and photos of local villages aimed at the general public, collectors or otherwise.
