Having bought
my first vines on the Saussignac hillsides in 1991, acquired
new plots, restructured the vineyard and taken over the family
property, Chateau Les Plaguettes in 1991, the vineyard now
covers 22 hectares and comprises several grape varieties:
• Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec (Côt)
for the red wine
• Semillon and Sauvignon for the white wine
I am very respectful of the work done over the generations and
it is a matter of honour for me to build on this and continue
improving the family heritage.
As a great believer in the notion of ‘terroir’, I wait for
optimum ripeness before harvesting the grapes.
I make the wine myself, aligning an immense respect of
tradition with the best modern techniques have to offer (temperature
control, hygiene, steam cleaning).
A combination of bountiful Mother Nature, skill, technology
and passion produces “custom-made” wines.
I only sell my own production and guarantee its authenticity
by bottling it all on the estate myself.
If you find yourself in the Périgord one day, please don’t
hesitate to give me a call on my mobile and I’ll be delighted
to share my passion with you around a wine tasting.
Warm regards,
Serge GAZZIOLA
