We know that the
quality of Monbazillac wines lies in the precision of manual
harvesting: choosing grapes that have “noble rot” and only those
grapes. We are uncompromising on this point.
Monbazillac:
a great rich and sweet liquoreux wine
that many people rediscover with surprise and pleasure. Set
aside your prejudices and your outdated memories: “wine for the
family meal at the grandparents”, “dessert wine”, “sweet wine”,...
and let yourself be captivated like all who have tasted our
wines!
Predominantly made with Sémillon together with Sauvignon and
Muscadelle, Monbazillac wine is harvested by hand and sorted by
hand several times to choose only the grapes affected by
botrytis cinerea, an astonishing fungus called “noble rot”,
which concentrates fragrance and sugar in the “crystallised”
grapes. The ageing period for Monbazillac wine is long: 18
months to two years. It is a wine that you can appreciate either
as soon as you buy it or 20 years later.
Connoisseurs know that Monbazillac goes marvellously with foie
gras, roquefort, and desserts. It is also, simply and superbly,
an aperitif wine, or a digestive with our “Vendanges de
Brumaire” wines.
When nature and man work
wonders together...
We make two
ranges of wines: the classic,
already very concentrated with a whole range of flavours, where
apricot, pineapple, and crystallised citrus are often dominant;
and a top-of-the-line
range, “Vendanges de Brumaire”,
more rigorously selected and aged in new French oak barrels for
15 to 18 months. Our Monbazillac wines are appreciated for their
balance: both lively and bold, they are dominated by fruit (not
sugar!), and keep their crispness.
