After a good
many visits to estates, vineyards, wine storehouses, terroirs,
and a good many wine-tastings in this lovely Bergerac area, we
have finally taken the plunge (I was going to say, “crossed
the Rubicon”) in December 2004.
We have jumped with both feet onto “the other bank” of our
dream: to become WINE GROWERS.
We were: she (Nathalie, director’s secretary), he (Alain,
pharmacist in Paris).
We come from agricultural and farming families. This is a
return to the land.
The goal of our
change in life: to exploit the soil, to extract its
excellence, to make the cultural gastronomic legacy of our
beautiful France endure through wine.
MOULIN GARREAU appealed to us because of its location. The
wide clay-limestone plateau of ST MICHEL DE MONTAIGNE, the
expressive, tannic wines generated by this land, which the
oenologist recognises immediately: “Ah! It’s a MONTRAVEL”.
We are very close to Castillon, Montagne, and Puisseguin St
Emilion. North of the Dordogne is the geologic continuation of
Fronsadais.
There is a lot to do, but... the land is there!
