The 15th century
Château de Fayolle at Saussignac (Dordogne) is situated on a
limestone clay plateau in
the heart of the Bergerac appellation wine
growing area. Purchased in 1997 by Ringwood Brewery, the property
has benefitted from huge investments both in the vineyard and
winemaking equipment.
The vineyard produces wines of
reputable quality
including a dry fruity white, a wonderfully refreshing rosé and
several styles of red ranging from a soft tannin fruity blend to one
with a more mature and structured style. A tongue-tickling Blanc de
Blancs and a handpicked Saussignac liquoreux dessert wine are also
produced.
The increasingly popular
Confrères de Fayolle wine club
offers its members special prices and an exclusive oak-aged 50%
Cabernet Sauvignon / 50% Merlot red.
Wine tasting is from Monday to Friday - 2pm to 6pm, although it is
always preferable to book in advance.
