Local Economy

Farming - mixed and animal breeding - plays an important role in the local economy.

Industry :
St Félix de Villadeix is lucky to have two businesses in the commune which each employ twenty or so persons. One makes sachets of chorine for treating swimming pools and the other sells automated swimming pool cleaning systems.

     
 

Tourisme :
• In 1989 an English company bought a hamlet in the commune which has since been restored and now has 36 holiday homes. Early 2004 a further twenty apartments will be added to the original 36.
• There is a farm campsite called « La Brugère ».
• The commune has numerous gîtes and holiday accommodation.

     
   

A Shops and Restaurants:
In the village itself, «
Jour de Fête» regroups various activities :
• Restaurant with different traditional menus, terrace and swimming pool.
• Bar, tobacconist, Internet café and games (billiards, darts, table football etc.)
• An « emergency » grocery store which also sells bottled gas, bread (Tourte de Montclar) and newspapers.

Trade :
Local businesses include general building, security, agricultural machinery mechanics, garden maintenance and agricultural labour.

     
   

Local organisations
• The association for the deaf and blind, « Accueil Sourds Avergles de la Peyrouse », founded in 1992 has 11 deaf and blind residents. It is the only establishment of its kind in the south of France and employs 19 people.
• The Social Events Committee (‘Le Foyer Rural’) organises a variety of events for local people - ‘St Féliciens’ - including sporting events (hikes), cultural events (concerts, exhibitions) and just plain fun occasions (‘Belote’, bingo, village fête etc.).
• « La Diane » is a hunting society with organises an annual clay-pigeon shooting event and meal. The Senior Citizens’ Club organises a variety of outings and events.
• The Brothers of St Gabriel retirement home situated on the Domaine de la Peyrouse houses thirty brothers from the order of the Brothers of St Gabriel.
