Village

In the Couze valley, at the foot of the medieval castle around which it grew, the village of Montferrand-du-Périgord boasts many old houses and a Renaissance market hall. The oldest known document citing the « castrum de Monte Ferrando » is a charter dating from 1286.

Montferrand-du-Périgord, a commune in the canton of Beaumont-du-Périgord, has a surface area of 1310 hectares and a population of 180. It can be reached via the departmental road, RD26.

The Commune’s Coat of Arms

« Argent dexter with undulating azure band adorned with three argent mill-rinds. Gules sinister with argent open castle. Open-work and stonework in sable, perched on a sable mound. »
