Cromlech (megalithic dolmen) |
|
“Lavalade”
comes from the walk (‘balade’) taken by the burghers of the
bastide town of Monpazier. The Romanesque, Catholic church was
built in two stages (the later building taking place in 1855).
The commune boasts a cromlech
(a megalithic dolmen) at ‘Peyregude’.
An interesting character lived in the village in 1900 – Dr
Laville who founded the first hospital in China, at Tien-Sing.
