Badefols :
Ancient land of legends...
Surveyed by the ruins of its château, the village has always
held a strategically important place by the banks of the
Dordogne.
Situated as it is between the ‘Périgord Pourpre’ and the
‘Périgord Noir’, between bastide country and the realm of
prehistoric man, Badefols makes an ideal base from which to
explore the whole of the Périgord. However, this village where
life is good, is also undeniably a holiday destination in its
own right with many hiking trails and wealth of regional
produce.
Badefols is
situated on the departmental road which links Bergerac to
Sarlat, 5km from Lalinde and 11km from Le Buisson de Cadouin,
the chief town of the canton.
Badefols can be reached by train (stations at Le Buisson and
Lalinde) or plane (airports at Bergerac 25km, or Périgueux
51km).
The commune’s 192 inhabitants are spread between the village
itself on the banks of the Dordogne River and the hillside
hamlets of Villeneuve, Moulin Neuf, Viralet and Coudounier which
dominate the valley, some from an altitude of 200m, (the first
foothills of the Massif Central).
