In the year
2000, nearing the age of 94, Constantin
-"Costi" – Papachristpoulos, decided to
donate his complete works from 1929 to 1973
to the town of Bergerac with the condition
that it find a permanent home, open to the
public, for the collection.
The local council met on 30th March 2000,
unanimously accepted the donation, and
agreed to create the Costi Museum in the two
cellars of the St Jacques Presbytery.
The permanent exhibition space of the Costi
Donation was inaugurated on 21st June 2003.
The exhibition has been arranged in such a
way as to let the visitor walk around the
statues and appreciate them from every
angle.
The collection comprises : 52 bronzes, 7
plaster works, 7 drawings (not exhibited).
