Fleix
Protestant Church
dates from the Reformation and the official
recognition of the creed in 1587.
Fleix’s first Protestant church was situated
at the village entrance ; it still existed
in 1679 but was probably demolished after
the revocation of the Nantes Edict.
The main
pavilion of Fleix castle subsequently became
the Protestant church, replacing the one
which still stood in the seventeenth century.
The church was
consecrated in July 1801; restoration work
was carried out in 1898-1899 and the
inauguration of the newly renovated church
took place on 9 May 1899.
