The church,
which is dedicated to the Virgin Mary,
is situated in the middle of a small, very
old graveyard. The church was built around
the year 1000 but has undergone many
alterations over the course of time. Up
until the French Revolution the church - and
the Virgin of Bassac - was a place of
pilgrimage. Services only resumed in 1894
and since then, on every first Sunday of
September, worshippers gather to perpetuate
tradition. |
