Take the D660 to CREYSSE (17th century
chateau de Tiregand
and formal gardens, Belle-Riva Centre) then to TUILIERES (fish lift,
lock,
canal) and continue on until LALINDE (bastide).
Take the D31 to MAUZAC (Dordogne quayside, lock, gabares...) and
carry on till
TREMOLAT
(panoramic view of bend in the river, St Hilaire’s Chapel). An
optional detour can be made to St ALVERE (15th century castle ruins,
truffle market (in season)). Cross the Dordogne River on the D31 to
get to CALES before taking the D29 to BADEFOLS sur DORDOGNE and
heading to
MOLIERES
(bastide) near St AVIT SENIEUR (12th
century abbey, museum).
The D26 detour to MONTRERRAND du PERIGORD (Romanesque chapel,
medieval village)
is well worth the effort. Turn back to BEAUMONT (bastide,
12th century church)
before following the Couze valley (paper manufacturing) along the
D660 past the chateau de BANNES (15th-17th century) till COUZE ST
FRONT (paper mills).
The D37 will take you to LANQUAIS (14th
-16th century chateau)
then to MOULEYDIER. The D21 will take you via ST SAUVEUR to the N21
at LEMBRAS.
Either return to
BERGERAC
or head towards PERIGUEUX as far as DOUVILLE (castle ruins) then
follow the D38 to BEAUREGARD ET BASSAC (bastide,
standing stones), MONCLAR (medieval village, chateau) and CLERMONT
de BEAUREGARD (medieval
village, church,
chateau...).
