Two of the eight fortification gates of the walled town of Lalinde remain. At the west, the Bergerac ("Bragéra") gate, from the end of the 14th century, wrongly called the Roman gate, it has nothing that is either Romanesque or Roman (primitive Gothic).
The 14th century lower part is in stone topped by a part in brick from the 15th century. This second part was ruined following the Wars of Religion.
The placement of the portcullis and its gudgeons can be seen, as well as the passage above the gate. This passage was supposed to communicate directly with the wall-walk located on top of the wall.
