Origins
Built by the Barrière family in the thirteenth century, this fortified castle played an important role in the Hundred Years War.

What to See
The castle was added to, altered and in part rebuilt from the thirteenth century right through to the sixteenth century. The ruins of the main body of the castle, the keep, an underground vaulted gallery and a round tower are what remain of the chateau Barrière today.
The historian, Wigrin de Taillefer was born here.
