Version Française

THE BREWERY
The brewery was established in October 97 in an old Périgourdin farm (called «Le Canardou » which means duckling or little duck in Occitan) by Jean-Yves Jego who threw reason to the wind for his love of traditional beer and his ecological convictions (he abandoned a model career in banking to set up the brewery). The brewery is built on a very human scale and is run in the true spirit of an artisanal trade by a lover of both beer and personal freedom.

THE BEERS
The Brewery du Canardou’s aim is to satisfy customers - an ever-increasing number of whom seek authentic, high-quality beers - and to serve Lady Beer well. Our response to this demand is to produce
traditionally brewed, fresh, living pure malt, non-pasteurised, non-filtered beers which are kept in bottles on the lees. We use only hops in full flower (no pellets, no extracts). Carbon dioxide is not added which means that the beers are flat rather than fizzy. They are not beers simply intended to assuage a thirst but rather to be savoured and enjoyed.

Like wine, the beers improve with age. They are best kept in an upright position away from the light;
their use-by date is 18 months from the moment of bottling, which, generally speaking, means over a year on the shop floor. The beers are organic and have the certified ‘AB’ organic label. The brewery is certified by ECOCERT sas - F32600 L’Isle Jourdain. (Download the certificate, PDF 166ko)
