Of interest : The hotel is in the
‘Périgord Pourpre’ (so-called because of the abundance of
vineyards) region of the Périgord (land of ‘Jacquou le
Croquant’) ideally situated for tasting the famous red wines
of Bergerac and Pécharmant and the sweet, honeyed white wine
of Monbazillac (5min from the hotel) which go so well with
foie gras, preserved duck (‘confit’) and duck breast
(‘magret’). Gabare trips up the Dordogne River (the «River of
Hope») can be had from Bergerac quayside in the old town. Only
an hour’s drive away are the caves of Lascaux, Les Eyzies and
Sarlat (in the ‘Périgord Noir’).
