St Alvère in the Périgord :
the first truffle market
in France to have gone
on-line !

Version Française

Located in the canton of Vélines, extending on a wine-producing plateau between the Estrop and Lidoire valleys, Saint Vivien is a small rural town of 853 hectares, which has 282 inhabitants.
The name of Saint Vivien comes from the name of a bishop of Saintes (+460), “Sancti Bibiani”.
The village’s economy is based mainly on agriculture, and more particularly, on wine growing. It produces wines with the appellation (AOC) Montravel and Bergerac.
The presence of several businesses and a rural complex are also witness to a certain dynamism.

During your strolls there, you will encounter varied landscapes: vineyards, meadows, ponds, forests, and superb buildings such as the mill or the 13th century vaulted church.
You can taste and buy the local nectar in wine warehouses or at the wine cooperative.
If the desire strikes to you to remain a few days in this charming village, you will find accommodations in the many holiday cottages there.
Saint Vivien is characterized by its quality of life and the peacefulness that reigns there.
